CONCLUSION

In conclusion, visitors’ experience has become significantly more complex in recent years. Art galleries/museums make us experience ourselves as both personal and spiritual. Indeed, this is the task of the art galleries/museums. Visitors experience the art galleries/museums with their bodies. Bodies are in interaction with the whole atmosphere, artworks and surroundings; the eyes see façade and apparentness; the nose smell the scent in the building, the body measure the height and size of the place; the hands touch the texture of materials; the brain perceives and analyses all information. Ultimately, visitors experience themselves in the art galleries/museums, also, the art galleries/museums create the embodied experience.

In response to the first aim which was to explore how visitors feel when they are inside an art gallery/museum. The research shows that visitors are impressed by the building design and artworks inside the art gallery/museum. Moreover, they are expecting to have new and interesting experience inside the art gallery/museum. For instance, a different experience from the realms of hearing, smell and taste.

In terms of what impresses visitors in an art gallery, also what affects visitors’ emotion, behaviour and interaction. The main finding can be summarized as follow: 1.  Building type, structure and size; 2. Interior space, natural light and lighting; 3. Materials.

The third aim was to explore the factors affecting visitors’ feeling and overall experience when they are interacting with the art galleries/museums. Both secondary research and primary research have shown that visitors identify their experience with the building size, scale, natural light, materials, colour, hearing and smell. Even though there are many design elements inside one art gallery/museum, designers and architects have to perceive all details as a complete thing, in order to build appropriate ideal art galleries/museums’ experience for visitors.

Finally, with regard to what can be improved in the art gallery in order to provide a better experience for visitors. ‘interaction’ has been mentioned many times. Visitors not just gaze artworks inside the art galleries/museums, they identify themselves with space, and the moment as well. In other words, architects and designers should be aware of how to create the appropriate ideal space for human interaction, also the interaction between visitors and artworks.

Art galleries/museums are the focal point where connect visitors, artworks, artists, architecture and the world converge.
